Molecular Formula

Molecular or Chemical Formula:

A molecular formula is a representation of a chemical compound using a set of symbols for the atoms of elements present in a molecule of the compound, and shows the actual number of atoms of each element of the compound. In some cases, empirical and molecular formulas are same, e.g., methane (CH_4), boron trichloride (BCl_3), etc.

Molecular formula is calculated as :

Molecular Formula = ntimes:empirical formula

Illustration: The empirical formula of Boron Hydride is BH_3. Calculate molecular formula when the measured mass of the compound is 27.66u.
